On July 17 the Forum of youth organizations of the CIS Member States “Vector for the Future” completed its work in Vitebsk, Belarus.
The forum is an important communication platform for youth public associations of the CIS countries that unites efforts to develop cooperation and becomes the starting point for constructive dialogue and new initiatives.
Delegates of the forum were representatives of youth public organizations, leaders of youth movements, representatives of government agencies implementing youth policy (the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan).
On July 15 participants visited the memorial complex “Khatyn” and the meeting-requiem “In the name of the common Victory” at the memorial complex “Shunevka”. Fascists burned these villages to the ground along with inhabitants in 1943.
During a visit to memorials the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Russia, Grigory Petushkov shared his opinion on how Russia and Belarus preserve their common history. According to him, the preservation of historical memory is among main tasks of youth policy.
Vitebsk State University named Pyotr Masherov hosted plenary discussions “Presentation of activities of youth organizations of the CIS Member States” and “Prospects and opportunities for youth organizations of the CIS Member States”. The discussion was opened by the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union Alexander Lukyanov.
According to him, it is important that youth from the Commonwealth countries are united in a single forum movement.
One of days of the forum program became part of the Youth Day organized by the Belarusian Republican Youth Union and held on stages of Vitebsk as a part of the 31st International Festival of Arts “Slavic Bazaar”.
The motto of the Youth Day is “Belarusian Republican Youth Union: 20 years together!” opened the patriotic action “Belarus remembers. We remember everyone.” Together with participants of the festive events the forum delegates walked from the memorial complex “To the Liberators of Vitebsk – Soviet soldiers, partisans and underground workers” to the city center.
The meeting was also held with the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Andrey Ivanets and the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union Alexander Lukyanov. Organizers called this discussion “100 questions from youth”.
Recall that the Forum of Youth Organizations of the CIS Member States has been held since 2015. This year it was held in person for the first time in Belarus. It was organized by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Belarusian Republican Youth Union – a long-term friend and partner of the National Youth Council of Russia – with the support of the CIS Executive Committee.
The forum is an event of the Council for Youth Affairs of the CIS Member States. It is supported by the basic organization of the CIS Member States for working with youth (RTU MIREA).
