Turkmen-Russian youth meeting

On December 27, 2021 the Russian-Turkmen youth meeting was held online bringing together 50 participants from Russia and Turkmenistan on its platform: representatives of youth and student associations, leaders of youth projects and students including students from Turkmenistan studying in Russia and other representatives of active youth interested in the development of Russian-Turkmen cooperation.

Participants: 50 people – young people from Russia and Turkmenistan: representatives of youth and student associations, leaders of youth projects and students including students from Turkmenistan studying in Russia, and other representatives of active youth interested in the development of Russian-Turkmen cooperation.

The purpose of the meeting is the exchange of experience, discussion of topical issues and problems of interaction between Russian and Turkmen youth, as well as prospects for the development of the Russian-Turkmen youth dialogue.

Event objectives:

  • Informing participants about the current state of Russian-Turkmen cooperation and its prospects,
  • Informing the participants about the existing opportunities in the field of humanitarian and youth cooperation between Russia and Turkmenistan,
  • Exchange of experience in the implementation of youth projects,
  • Formation of a pool of active youth of Russia and Turkmenistan, interested in the further development of joint projects and the strengthening of Russian-Turkmen relations.

The program of the event consisted of two parts: the official opening with the participation of officials from Russia and Turkmenistan and a panel discussion with representatives of the largest youth NGOs in Russia and Turkmenistan: “Youth cooperation as a tool for strengthening bilateral relations between Russia and Turkmenistan: building the potential of interregional youth dialogue and implementing joint projects “.

Welcoming speeches at the opening of the meeting were made by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Turkmenistan Alexander Viktorovich Blokhin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation Batyr Niyazliev, Director of the Department of State Youth Policy and Educational Activities of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Denis Valeryevich Ashirov, the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Russia Grigory Valeryevich Petushkov, Deputy Executive Director of the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund Victoria Georgievna Karslieva, President of the World Association of Graduates of Higher Educational Institutions Vladimir Vladislavovich Chetiy, Deputy Director of the Institute of Youth Policy and International Relations of RTU MIREA, representative of the basic organization of the CIS Member States for working with youth Dmitry Alekseevich Bunkin.

The second and the main part of the meeting was held in the format of a discussion, during which the participants exchanged the best practices of youth work, shared their ideas on the development of the Russian-Turkmen youth dialogue and determined further stages of interaction.

Results

During the event the participants discussed the challenges and opportunities in the field of youth cooperation between Russia and Turkmenistan, the contribution of youth and public diplomacy to strengthening cooperation between states, as well as the role of foreign students and graduates in the development of bilateral relations. During the meeting proposals on the development of Russian-Turkmen youth cooperation and joint projects were also put forward.
