The CIS Council of Foreign Ministers supported the International Project “CIS Youth Capital”

On May 13 Dushanbe hosts the regular meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers. Grigory Petushkov, the Co-Chairman of the Council for Youth Affairs of the CIS Member States, the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Russia addressed participants of the event.

He presented the draft Regulation on the International Project “CIS Youth Capital” prepared by the Council for Youth Affairs of the CIS Member States.

Grigory Petushkov emphasized that the project is aimed at achieving one of the goals of the development of the CIS reflected in the Concept for the Further Development of the Commonwealth of Independent States. This goal is the involvement of the young generation of citizens in integration processes through participation in the implementation of projects and programs for Sustainable Development.

“The CIS Youth Council considers the definition of the CIS Youth Capital as an effective form of finding and sharing positive experience in working with youth, promoting the development of local youth infrastructure and expanding the participation of young people in the social and socio-economic life of cities. With the implementation of this international project we also hope for the further development of the youth volunteer movement and tourism,” Grigory Petushkov said. 

He noted that the CIS Youth Capital will become a kind of model for the further development of other cities in the field of youth work.

The meeting participants approved the draft Decision on the International Project “CIS Youth Capital”. It has been submitted for consideration by the CIS Council of Heads of Government which will be held on May 22.

After the approval of the document, at the suggestion of the Council for Youth Affairs, the CIS Council of Heads of Government will make a decision on declaring the CIS Youth Capital. It is assumed that the project will begin to be implemented annually in turn in the Commonwealth States, in the order of the Russian alphabet of their names.

The city received the status of the Youth Capital will also be given the right to host a meeting of the Council for Youth Affairs and the Forum of Youth Public Organizations of the CIS Member States on its territory.
