Russia and Belarus will expand cooperation in the field of educational activities of universities and youth policy including support for young scientists. This was stated by Andrey Ivanets, the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus during the working meeting with Valery Falkov, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
“It is proposed to supplement the indicated successful practice of interaction with the holding of the Forum of Young Scientists of the Union State. We believe that the periodic organization of this event will have a positive impact on the formation of an orderly mechanism of interaction between young scientists of higher education institutions of Belarus and Russia and will facilitate the establishment of interuniversity contacts between young scientists of two states,” Andrey Ivanets, quoted by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation said.
According to the source, the Russian side also came up with the initiative to hold the Forum of Rectors of the Union State that will contribute to the expansion of university cooperation and allow university leaders to discuss joint projects and exchange ideas.
Discussing the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the field of educational exchange including the development of existing and upcoming joint projects ministers touched upon plans for academic mobility of teachers and students, the exchange of knowledge and experience, the formation of common approaches to the creation of a new system for evaluating the results of research activities and the development of scientific journals of two countries.
According to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the joint meeting of boards of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Education and the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus will be held in April in the Leningrad Region. It is planned to discuss the harmonization of scientific and technical programs, youth policy, the digitalization of education during the pandemic and the internship of Belarusian scientists in Russia.
