Saint-Petersburg hosted VII Russia-Belarus Youth Forum 17–18 July.
Over 100 young people from both countries brought together at the VII Russia-Belarus Youth Forum “Youth for the Union State” to discuss inter-regional cooperation, best practices of supporting the youth in the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, academic cooperation and other issues of the youth policy. The event was attended by the representatives of the Federation Council of the federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on behalf of the Youth Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member Nations (YIPA CIS).
Main purposes of the action:
– Development of cooperation between representatives of youth public organizations and students of Russia and Belarus;
– Creation of conditions for the development of bilateral projects and programmes, as well as for the maintenance and strengthening of friendship, interaction and mutual understanding of peoples;
– Creation of an educational space for youth participation and intercultural dialogue.
Within the framework of the first working day of the Forum, a meeting of the Council of the Youth Chamber of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia was held.
At the opening ceremony, welcoming speeches were delivered to the participants:

- O. Chernysheva, the director of the department of the state youth policy and social projects in the sphere of the highest educations Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation;
- V.Sirenko, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus for Education, Science, Culture and Social Development;
- T. Lebedeva, Coordinator the Youth Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the CIS member states; Member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation;
- A. Lukyanov, Chairman of the Youth Chamber under the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia;
- K. Kolpakov, Chairman of the Council of Young Diplomats Russian Foreign Ministry.
The second day was devoted to the following thematic sections:
“Development of the Union state youth movement and interregional youth cooperation»,
“The practice of youth support»,
“Intercollegiate cooperation”.

As a result of the forum, the resolution of the VII Youth forum of Russia and Belarus “Youth for the Union state” was adopted, aimed at strengthening friendship and cooperation between the youth of the two countries.

Russia-Belarus Youth Forum has been held since 2013 upon the initiative of the National Youth Council of Russia and the Belarusian Republican Youth Union.
