On June 9 the Youth Interparliamentary Forum of the CIS Member States opened in St. Petersburg. It is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the 10th anniversary of the Youth Interparliamentary Assembly (YIPA) operating within its framework.
At the site of the 18th meeting of the CIS YIPA the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Russia, the Vice-Rector for Youth Policy of RTU MIREA – the basic organization of the CIS Member States working with youth, the member of the Council for Youth Affairs of the CIS Member States Grigory Petushkov spoke about the development of recommendations to improve the national legislation of the Commonwealth countries in the field of state youth policy.
“This will facilitate the development of an effective system of national legislation in state youth policy, will contribute to the creation of favorable conditions for youth in the CIS countries,” Grigory Petushkov emphasized.
The Deputy Chairman of the National Council, the member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation Ilya Zotov spoke as a part of an overview report and exchange of experience regarding the role of youth in the preservation of cultural heritage and the development of folk art in the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Also at the forum Valeria Torotenkova, the specialist of the International Department of the National Council, spoke about the seminar on the development of international youth cooperation and public diplomacy for representatives of youth organizations and youth leaders “Public Diplomatic Corps”.
One of the items on the agenda of the meeting was a report on measures to identify and support talented children and youth delivered by Tatyana Novikova, the General Director of the Information and Consulting Agency “Media and Business”, the Chairman of the Board of the Viktor Bokov Creative Heritage Foundation, the expert of RTU MIREA.
The National Youth Council of Russia over the past ten years has always been a member of the Russian delegation and was at the origins of the creation of the CIS Youth Interparliamentary Assembly.
During the meeting Grigory Petushkov was awarded the YPA CIS Badge of Honor “For Contribution to International Youth Cooperation”.
