On March 5 the 5th Congress of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (USPV) will be opened in Caracas. This event will take place throughout the year at various venues in a hybrid format. In parallel with the USPV forum the 4th Youth Congress of the movement will also be held.
Grigory Petushkov, the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Russia, will take part in the large-scale conference of the ruling party of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Diosdado Cabello Rondon, the First Deputy Chairman of the USPV, sent an invitation to the congress to him. “The holding of both political events comes at a time when Venezuelans are preparing for a new phase of the Bolivarian Revolution announced by the Comrade President Nicolas Maduro Moros and our National Leadership,” the message says.
According to the leadership of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, the key topic of the congress will be the new configuration of the international arena in troubled times. Delegates will discuss prospects for the recovery of the national economy affected by the global economic crisis, coupled with the Covid-19 pandemic, the blockade imposed by the United States and the European Union and the historical depletion of rentier capitalism in Venezuela.
“At this time of great decisions we call for the solidarity of our brothers in struggle from all countries of the world, by which we confirm that in the land of the father-liberator Simon Bolivar, the great Marshal Ayacucho Antonio Jose de Sucre, Masters Andres Bello and Simon Rodriguez, Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda, General of the Lands and Free People Ezequiel Zamora and Fabricio Ojeda, flags of socialism of the 21st century and the defense of dignity, sovereignty and independence will continue to fly,” the document emphasizes.
The Presidents of the Russian Federation and Venezuela, Vladimir Putin and Nicolas Maduro, agreed on the continuation of the delegation exchange and contacts at different levels during a telephone conversation on March 1. According to the press service of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin shared his assessment of the development of events around Ukraine stressing that the goals of the special military operation are to protect the civilian population of Donbass, the recognition by Kyiv of the DPR and LPR as well as Russian sovereignty over Crimea, the demilitarization and denazification of the Ukrainian state ensuring its neutral and non-nuclear status.
Nicolas Maduro expressed strong support for Russia’s decisive actions, condemned the destabilizing activity of the United States and NATO and stressed the importance of countering the campaign of lies and disinformation launched by Western countries.
The telephone conversation took place at the initiative of the Venezuelan side. The Heads of two countries discussed topical issues of further building up the Russian-Venezuelan strategic partnership, the implementation of joint projects, the source said.
