Organization and holding of the 25th Meeting of the Council for Youth Affairs of the CIS in the territory of the Russian Federation (archive event)

The purpose of this event was to discuss important issues of horizontal relations between young people, a promising vector of an open dialogue among the CIS countries. For the first time a meeting of the Council for Youth Affairs of the CIS Member States was held jointly with the Youth Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States. The agenda of the joint meeting included key issues and documents on international youth cooperation in the CIS. Representatives from each state spoke about the implementation of the Strategy for International Youth Cooperation of the CIS Member States for the period up to 2020, discussed proposals for the draft of this Strategy for 2021-2030 planned to be approved at the next meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State. Participants of the joint meeting considered the Concept for the development of cooperation between the CIS Member States in supporting the youth volunteer movement and measures for its implementation as well as a plan for the participation of youth of the Commonwealth in preparations for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

On May 31, 2019 a meeting of the Council for Youth Affairs of the CIS Member States and a visiting session of the CIS MMPA were held in parallel. During the meeting following issues were considered: preparation of the international stage of the final of the International Youth Project of the CIS Member States “100 ideas for the CIS”, expansion of cooperation in social support and creation of conditions for self-realization of the young generation. Participants also spoke about results of the Forum of Youth Organizations of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States and  preparation of the Forum in 2019, progress in implementing decisions of the Council on activities of the basic organization of the CIS Member States for working with youth, etc.

Participants were members of the Council from the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, a representative with the powers of a member of the Council from the Republic of Tajikistan. Representatives of the Republic of Uzbekistan as well as basic organizations of the CIS Member States for working with youth and for the development of youth entrepreneurship, representatives of state bodies and youth public associations of the Republic of Tatarstan also participated there. In total 33 people (29 participants and 4 organizers) participated there. 

Key results

Meeting participants discussed results of the implementation of the Strategy for International Youth Cooperation of the CIS Member States until 2020 and proposals for the draft of this Strategy for 2021-2030. The agenda of the meeting addressed issues on the Concept of developing cooperation between the CIS Member States in support of the youth volunteer movement and measures for its implementation as well as a plan for the participation of youth of the Commonwealth in preparations for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. In total, six issues were considered at the joint meeting of the council as well as seven issues of the meeting of the Council for Youth Affairs of the CIS Member States.
