On December 3, 2021 the meeting of youth organizations of the Baltic Sea countries was held online. The Youth Platform for the Baltic Sea Region acted as a partner in organizing the meeting.
The purpose of the meeting is to give an impetus to cooperation between youth of Russia and the countries of the Baltic Sea Region, bringing together representatives of youth organizations and giving them the opportunity to learn about each other’s activities and find new partners.
The event was aimed at providing youth organizations in Russia and the countries of the Baltic Sea Region with a space to present their activities, discuss the youth agenda in the Region, develop common interests that will lay the foundation for future joint work as well as get acquainted with the possibilities of grant support for projects in the Region.
The event consisted of two parts. The first part included the networking session during which young people from Russia and the countries of the Baltic Sea Region had the opportunity to tell in detail about the activities of their organizations, ongoing projects, and also share their vision of developing youth cooperation in the Region. The second part was devoted to familiarizing the participants with the possibilities of financing youth projects in the Region and grant-providing structures. During the second part of the meeting the Deputy Executive Director of the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, Victoria Georgievna Karslieva, spoke about the Fund’s activities and the possibilities of financial support for international youth initiatives, and the project coordinator of the Regional Identity Section of the Council of the Baltic Sea States Aline Mayer presented the activities of the youth platform for the Baltic Sea Region and the possibilities of supporting projects in the Region.
30 people participated there, including leaders and representatives of youth organizations, representatives of relevant state authorities in the field of youth policy and youth work, young parliamentarians and members of youth parliaments, students and graduate students interested in developing relations with youth organizations in the Baltic Sea Region.
Results: Based on the results of the meeting, the participants created an interactive database of contacts for the development of further interaction and expansion of the geography of cooperation, and also expressed hope for a face-to-face meeting in 2022.
