Forum of youth organizations of the CIS Member States

The Action Plan for 2018-2020 for the implementation of the Strategy for International Youth Cooperation of the CIS Member States for the period up to 2020 approved by the Decision of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CIS dated October 10, 2017 provided for the annual holding of the Forum of youth organizations of the CIS Member States (p. 5.16).

Executors were the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, the National Youth Council of Russia, RTU MIREA.

During the Forum various platforms where participants exchanged experience and formed proposals for further interaction were held. Within the framework of the round table “Youth as a Driver of a Positive Agenda in the CIS Space” issues of cooperation among public organizations were discussed, problems in the creation of international projects and methods for their solution were identified. Experts noted the importance of sectoral and profile interaction among the younger generation for a more effective calculation of results of activities in the field of youth policy. Representatives of delegations spoke about implemented projects. Participants also made proposals to the plan of joint events in preparation for the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory in the Commonwealth countries.

Grigory Gurov, the Head of the Department of Youth Projects and Programs of Rosmolodezh noted the importance of interaction between public organizations in the implementation of international youth projects: “The Federal Agency for Youth Affairs considers cooperation in the CIS format as one of key areas in its work. We hold a large number of international events together with our partners – public organizations”. 

The Forum of youth organizations of the CIS was held from 3 to 6 December. Participants were representatives of all countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States as a part of national delegations, representatives of largest youth organizations of the CIS countries.

“In my opinion, the main goal of the Forum is to unite us, such different participants, into one whole. Events like this allow us to integrate each other’s values, cultures and goals. It will help us build a brighter future together”, said Dmitry Voronyuk, the participant in the event.

Main purposes of the Forum were to reveal the educational, social, spiritual and moral potential of the younger generation, to strengthen the interaction of people as well as to support integration processes in the CIS.

The MGIMO Vice-Rector Igor Loginov drew attention to the fact that the university was a federal resource platform for supporting implementation processes, ensuring and promoting international youth cooperation, supporting and accompanying international projects in the field of youth policy. “Our today’s Forum speaks about importance of the international youth track and symbolizes Russia’s openness to a multilateral dialogue”, Loginov noted.

The chairman of the Council for Youth Affairs of the CIS Member States, the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Russia Grigory Petushkov noted the uniqueness of this forum and called on everyone to cooperate. “I would like to emphasize that for the first time in all these years leaders of youth organizations are present here – representatives of all the CIS countries without exception. We already have many plans for 2019 which we will discuss in the coming working days”, shared Grigory Petushkov.

It should be noted that the event was supported by a grant from the All-Russian competition of youth projects of Rosmolodyozh which was a part of the open platform “Russia – Land of opportunity”.

ANO “Russia – Land of opportunity ” was developing a platform of the same name included 13 projects: the competition of managers “Leaders of Russia”, the student competition “I am a professional”, the international competition “My first business”, the all-Russian competition “Volunteer of Russia”, the project “Professional training”, “Grant Competition for Youth Initiatives”. Also there were SME Business Navigator portal, the competition “Russian Schoolchildren’s Movement – Territory of Self-Government”, competition in professional skills among people with disabilities “Abilimpiks”, management cup among students “Manage!”, action of gratitude “Thank you”, championships of professional skills “Young Professionals (WorldSkills Russia)” and a charity project “Dream with me”.

Purposes were development of international youth cooperation in the Commonwealth of Independent States to unlock the creative, educational, social, spiritual and moral potential of the younger generation, consolidate youth social movement, strengthen friendship, mutual understanding and interaction between people of the CIS Member States as well as support integration processes there.

Tasks

  • stimulating the creative activity of young people, supporting and developing youth initiatives, encouraging the strengthening of cooperation between public youth associations, 
  • creation of a regular open dialogue platform for the exchange of experience of young people, leaders of youth associations, youth workers in the CIS, 
  • expansion and strengthening of international and interregional cooperation in the field of youth policy in the CIS, 
  • development of effective forms of interaction between youth public associations and organizations of the CIS Member States, 
  • combining efforts of state structures and public associations for the development of youth policy in the CIS, 
  • support and implementation of joint projects and programs aimed at the development of priority areas in the field of youth policy, 
  • development of proposals and recommendations for cooperation in the field of youth policy, 
  • support for the creation of network communities and the organization of professional youth exchanges, 
  • ensuring the mobility of young people and their involvement in international cooperation, promoting the development of youth cultural and educational tourism of the CIS Member States, 
  • involvement of young people in activities to preserve and enhance the cultural heritage of people of the CIS Member States.

Participants were 100 people. Leaders of youth social movement, representatives of youth associations, government agencies, international agencies involved in the implementation of youth policy in the CIS Member States.
